The State Bank of Pakistan issued a strict mandate: commercial banks had to implement a compliant Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system. Unlike batch processing, RTGS handles large-value interbank settlements in real-time, with immediate finality and zero undo.

Near go-live, the scope expanded to absorb the Pakistan Remittance Initiative (PRI) β turning the platform into a dual-purpose financial backbone routing inbound international remittances away from informal networks.
During pilot, an incorrect transaction exceeding β¨200,000,000 (200 Million PKR) was routed. I had built custom real-time WinForms monitoring utilities alongside the core services to track live message flows. Catching the anomaly before PRISM finality allowed me to immediately alert Treasury, who reversed it before settlement.
Bank Alfalah became the first commercial bank in Pakistan to go live, cleanly passing the stringent SBP regulatory compliance audit. When another top-tier Pakistani bank struggled with their RTGS implementation, their technical leadership reached out to consult with me on solution architecture.
